SportsPower's Teams of the Week, Oct. 2-3
This week’s SportsPower teams of the week epitomize the word team. Stout defensive efforts carried teams in Texas and Florida, while a Missouri powerhouse barely escaped with its long winning streak in tact.
Berkner Rams (TX)
It was a total team effort for the Rams in their 32-0 victory over Creekview. After leading 10-0 following their first two possessions, the Rams defense really shined. They allowed only seven first downs and 20 yards rushing to Creekview.
Orrick Bearcats (MO)
The Bearcats extended their winning streak to 35 games, but it wasn’t without drama. Orrick scored a tie-breaking touchdown with 30 seconds left in the game, a 45-yard pass from Clayton Jones to Aaron Blyth, to beat Concordia, 36-30.
Plant Panthers (FL)
In what has developed into the best rivalry in the Tampa area, another hard-fought battle took place Firday night. Plant used a stingy defensive effort topping Armwood, 17-7, ending the Hawks’ 44-game home winning streak.
